The Southern Nevada District Board of Health is expected to formally accept the resignation of chief health officer Lawrence Sands during a special meeting.
Dr. Sands announced his resignation from his post on June 14. No reason was disclosed for his departure.
Dr. Sands was first appointed to the position in March 2007, SNHD noted. He served as director of the Community Health Division and assistant health officer before ascending to be chief health officer.
"I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to serve the district as the chief health officer and look forward to continuing to make a difference in the community in a future role," said Dr. Sands.
The special meeting at Las Vegas City Hall council chambers is set for 3:30 p.m.
