LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Republican primary candidate Mari St. Martin defeated Brent Jones on Tuesday to win her party's nomination for Nevada State Senate District 9.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, St. Martin had 1,641 votes compared to 1,386 for Jones.

The race was notable for a smear campaign and website labeling St. Martin a "party girl."

The site, paid for by Republicans United, claimed the candidate's only experience is "her propensity to party hearty," and showed multiple photos of St. Martin socializing and drinking.

St. Martin told FOX5 the photos were at least five years old.
