Metro police and DEA agents have carried out a large-scale marijuana grow house bust on Illumination Street near Rainbow Boulevard and Patrick Lane.
Officers served a search warrant at 11 a.m. and estimate there are between 400 and 500 marijuana plants on the property.
Police have so far arrested one person, but said they believe this was the first step in a long investigation and more arrests may be forthcoming.
Neighbors arrived on the scene Tuesday afternoon, surprised to see the police activity.
"They usually stay to themselves. No cars are parked in the driveway most of the time," said Cora Colucci, a neighbor who also serves on the neighborhood watch.
Rodrigo Artilheiro said he sensed something wasn't right late last week.
"I was walking and... I could smell something weird," he said.
Another neighbor who would not go on camera told FOX5 he smelled marijuana for several mornings and alerted police several months ago.
Metro police said that because the grow house yielded hundreds of plants worth an estimated $1 million, the DEA will serve as the lead in the joint investigation.
