LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas saw a drop-off in the number of visitors in April, data from the city's Convention and Visitors Authority showed Tuesday.

Nearly 30,000 fewer visitors visited the area in April of this year than the same month the year before.

The total 3,324,459 visitors this April 2012 amounted to a 0.9 percent drop.

The city also dropped in that number from the March 2012's visitor volume of 3,531,994.

The LVCVA said a 4.9 percent decrease in convention attendance attributed to the drop.

The tourism numbers come as Clark County's overall gaming revenue surged in April. The LVCVA reported an 8.9 percent jump from the April before. In fact, gaming revenue was up across the different gaming regions of Clark County –Las Vegas Strip, Downtown and Boulder Strip.

The city also reported a year-to-year jump in passengers at McCarran Airport. April 2012 saw a 2.7 percent increase to a total of 3,554,497 passengers.

Despite the month-to-month drop in visitors, Las Vegas year-to-date numbers were still up over the same period last year. About 13 million visitors have come to the southern Nevada metropolis through the first four months of 2012.
