Mrs. Jane Doe

1234 Main Street

Las Vegas, NV 89123

Dear Mrs. Doe:

Due to budget reductions, current licensed positions are being eliminated effective for the 2012-2013 school year. As a result, the Clark County School District was required to follow the Reduction in Force procedures set forth in Article 30 of the Negotiated Agreement between the Clark County School District and the Clark County Education Association. It is with deep regret that I must inform you that, based upon your seniority ranking and the areas identified by the Superintendent, or, if applicable, any five-day or more suspensions you have been issued, you will be reduced in force. At this time, you will be placed on a leave of absence for a period not to exceed two years.

Please be advised that Article 30-9 of the Negotiated Agreement between the Clark County School District and the Clark County Education Association provides for each teacher placed on leave of absence to be reinstated in reverse order to reduction when a new position opens for which the teacher is licensed and qualified. The School District shall notify teachers placed on leave of absence of subsequent vacancies by certified mail. This notice will be mailed to the last address registered by the teacher with the School District personnel office. In accordance with the licensed Negotiated Agreement, please be advised that the Clark County School District is under no obligation to rehire you after the expiration of the two-year leave of absence.

Because of this change in your employment status, you will lose the group health insurance provided for you and any covered dependents (if applicable). Should you wish to maintain coverage under your present insurance program, please contact the Teachers Health Trust, P.O. Box 96238, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89123.You may telephone the Teachers Health Trust at 794-0272 regarding your health insurance coverage. Please understand that failure to contact the Health Trust to make arrangements for remitting your premiums while you are on leave from the District could result in cancellation of your insurance.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation for your service to the Clark County School District.

Respectfully,

Dr. Staci Vesneske, Chief Human Resources Office Human Resources Division
