Juan Alberto Ruan-Rivera faces multiple charges of sexual assault
NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -
A North Las Vegas man accused of posing as a doctor and sexually assaulting his patients, including a five-year-old boy, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
Juan Alberto Ruan-Rivera, 44, was arrested in February in connection to alleged assaults of two women and his grandson.
North Las Vegas police said he claimed to be a doctor and lured unsuspecting patients, most of whom were uninsured Hispanics, into his home. From there, he would assault them while they were sedated, police said.
Police believe these crimes were being done as far back as 2006.
A police report said Ruan-Rivera was licensed as a physician in Mexico.
Ruan-Rivera's wife, Francisca Ruan, told FOX5 in February she believes her husband is guilty, even claiming he attacked her a month before his arrest.
She did not, however, confirm that her grandson was one of the victims in the alleged assaults.
Ruan-Rivera's hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m.
He faces two counts of sexual assault with a minor and three counts of lewdness with a child.
