LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Two people escaped a southeast Las Vegas home before it was gutted by a fire Monday night.
Clark County Fire reported the blaze at a home on Tremolite Avenue, near Spencer Street and E. Pebble Road, just after 9 p.m.
A man and a woman evacuated the home when they smelled smoke and found flames.
Crews arrived to find the roof fully involved in flames. Firefighting efforts were made difficult by strong winds, CCFD said.
Thirty-five firefighters were able to control the fire, but not before the house was destroyed.
Fire officials estimated damage at $250,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents with clothing, food and shelter following the blaze.
