LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning in a crash on Boulder Highway near Lake Mead Parkway.
Henderson police said the victim, who hasn't been identified, was traveling northbound on Boulder Highway at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of a car at about 3:30 a.m.
The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and killed. It's unknown if he was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the car was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital, police said.
According to police, at around 3:15 a.m. a Henderson officer saw two motorcyclists driving very fast down Racetrack Road. When the officer turned on his emergency lights and attempted to pull them over, they sped away. One motorcyclist went westbound on Horizon Drive, the other one headed northbound on Boulder Highway.
The deceased motorcyclist accelerated to well over an estimated 100 mph before slamming into the back of a Honda Accord. The driver of the Accord, 61-year-old Randy Finn, has been released from the Rose de Lima Campus of St. Rose Domincan Hospitals.
Police haven't ruled drugs or alcohol out as contributors to the crash, but said it appears speed was the primary factor.
