HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

Color Me Mine, a local business for creating art, held a fundraiser on Sunday at The District at Green Valley Ranch to help cure a child from a rare autoimmune neurological disorder that attacks the body's own healthy cells.

The Doyle family of Henderson says their 6-year-old daughter, Mercy, contracted the Epstein Barr virus, aka mono, after she turned 2-years-old. Although treatment rid the virus, brain damage continues to spread, causing regular seizures and the inability for their child to walk due to constant foot tremors.

Mercy's symptoms were explained last year when she was diagnosed with OMS (Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome), a disease that attacks brain cells.

Doyle has undergone two rounds of chemotherapy among other treatments, yet her family says the 6-year-old's body continues to deteriorate.

The Doyle family is trying to raise at least $6,000 for the Brain Balance Achievement Center's therapy program. Mercy is receiving treatment at the Henderson facility. Those interested in helping can do so by visiting the Pray for Mercy website.
