LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A day after issuing an alert for wildfire smoke entering southern Nevada, Clark County air quality officials have issued a similar warning for dust through Friday.

The Department of Air Quality said expected high winds will increase the possibility of blowing dust from Thursday evening through Friday night.

FOX5 meteorologist Ted Pretty said southwest wind gusts of at least 40 mph are expected from 11 a.m. through 8 p.m. Friday.

Pretty noted the same southwest winds were expected to blow remaining wildfire smoke away from the Las Vegas valley.

Clark County issued an alert Wednesday for smoke from the Tre Fire that has been burning about 400 miles away near Reno.

Air quality officials said updates on conditions will be posted at redrock.co.clark.nv.us/forecast.
