LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Nevada Department of Transportation will open access to the new Warm Springs Bridge on Friday, more than a year after the original bridge was demolished.
The bridge that connects east and west sides of Warm Springs Road over Interstate 15 was built following the demolition of an older bridge that was built in the 1960s.
NDOT said signs of wear necessitated a rebuilding project. The old bridge was demolished in Feb. 2011.
Officials said the bridge will ultimately carry six lanes of traffic. It was also designed to accommodate a new configuration of I-15 and its access roads.
The bridge will open at a two-lane configuration in the afternoon hours Friday.
