LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Motorists heading to the Las Vegas Strip this week should expect overnight lane closures as a resort undergoes renovation.
The closures affect westbound Tropicana Avenue at Las Vegas Boulevard and lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard at Tropicana, MGM Resorts said.
The closures will accommodate a 140-foot crane needed in a renovation project at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.
The first day of closures began early Monday morning.
Officials expected the closures to last for three to five days only during overnight hours, from midnight to 8 a.m.
The closures on Las Vegas Boulevard will be intermittent, officials said.
Two lanes of westbound Tropicana will remain open at all times and two left-turn lanes will also remain open.
MGM suggested Harmon Avenue, Koval Lane, Rue de Monte Carlo and Frank Sinatra Drive as alternate routes round the closures.
