LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Las Vegas Metro police on Wednesday identified the three officers involved in the shooting of a K-9 as 28-year-old Officer Edward Renfer, 28-year-old Officer Michael Foster and 36-year-old Officer Jeffrey Corbett.
Corbett, a 14-year veteran who has been assigned to K-9 detail since 2006, was leading the animal through a neighborhood on Upland Boulevard Monday when it attacked Foster.
Renfer and Corbett tried to force the dog, Marco, to release Foster, officials said, and Renfer shot the animal.
Marco, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, is being treated at the Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center. A doctor who spoke with FOX5 on Tuesday said the animal was shot in the spine and had a "50-50" chance of recovering.
Foster suffered non-life threatening injuries and is on modified duty, according to police.
