LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A Las Vegas man convicted in an east end shooting death was sentenced to a maximum of 15 years in prison.
The sentence for Ricky Saldana was handed down May 10 on charges of voluntary manslaughter and use of a deadly weapon, Clark County Court officials said.
Saldana was arrested in Oct. 2010 in connection to the Jul. 2009 shooting death of 31-year-old Gerald Hirai.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, Saldana opened fire from a pickup truck, shooting Hirai while he was driving in the area of Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard.
Hirai died at Sunrise Trauma Center a few days after the shooting.
Saldana must serve at least 3-and-a-half years of his sentenced but has been credited for more than a year and a half of that term.
