Delivery truck driver killed east of Vegas Strip ID'd

A 43-year-old North Las Vegas man was identified as the delivery truck driver killed in a head-on collision with a sport-utility vehicle Sunday.

According to the Clark County Coroner's office, Ricardo Martinez, 43, died from blunt force cranial trauma from the accident.

Las Vegas Metro police reported the crash on E. Flamingo Road and S. Koval Lane at 3:39 a.m.

Police said Martinez's truck was stopped in the left turn on Flamingo when it was struck by a GMC Yukon Denali heading westbound on Koval.

Martinez died at the scene.

Four occupants – two women and two men - were in the sport-utility vehicle at the time of the crash. They sustained minor to serious injuries, Metro said.

Police identified the driver of the GMC as Hasim Sharif Rahman, Jr., 20. Rahman is the son of heavyweight boxer Hasim Rahman.

As of this incident, Metro said they have investigated 51 traffic-related fatalities this year.

Police did not say if alcohol was involved in the collision.
