LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A 7-month-old child was hospitalized Friday after nearly drowning in a bath tub, police said. Officers also arrested the child's mother, 28-year-old Lori Martinez,  for leaving the child unattended.

An emergency call was made about 12:39 p.m. in the 900 block of Silverman Way, according to Las Vegas Metro police.

According to Public Information Officer Laura Meltzer, someone called 911 requesting an ambulance but said "never mind" and disconnected.

That same residence called again a short time later saying they needed an ambulance and a child was not breathing.

The child was transported to University Medical Center, Pediatrics Unit. Authorities said the child was alert and breathing.

Martinez was arrested for child neglect for allegedly leaving the baby unattended, police said.
