LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Motorists can expect delays as a stretch of Interstate 15 is scheduled for closure later this month and during a weekend in June.
Nevada Department of Transportation said the southbound lanes of the I-15 from Russell Road to Interstate 215 will be closed from Tuesday, May 22 to Wednesday May 23, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and from 10 p.m. Friday, Jun. 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jun. 3.
Ramps from Flamingo Road, Tropicana Boulevard and Russell to I-15 South, as well as Dean Martin Drive, will also be closed.
NDOT said it is removing a railroad bridge over I-15 South and installing a new span there. The project will require the closures.
Traffic is expected to be detoured by exiting I-15 at Russell Road, traveling on Russell westbound to Decatur and then Decatur southbound to the 215 Beltway. That will lead to eastbound beltway to I-15 southbound.
Other detours include:
- US 95 northbound to Summerlin Parkway westbound, to Decatur Boulevard southbound to 215 Beltway eastbound to I-15 southbound;
- I-515 southbound to I-215 westbound to I-15 southbound;
- Tropicana Avenue or Flamingo Avenue westbound to Decatur Boulevard southbound to 215 Beltway eastbound to I-15 southbound;
- Las Vegas Strip traffic will be diverted southbound on Las Vegas Boulevard to Blue Diamond Road westbound to I-15 southbound;
- Motorists are advised to use eastbound Tropicana Ave. for access to the airport during the closure.
The closure is the latest work for the I-15 Design-Build South project, made to improve and expand lanes of the interstate from Tropicana Avenue to around Silverado Ranch Boulevard.
