HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
Four men believed to be part of a Las Vegas street gang face federal charges in connection to a 2011 break-in of a Henderson gun store.
According to the office of United States Attorney Daniel Bogden, the four men – Victor Williams, 19; Demario Edwards, 22; Frank Freeman, 26; and Daryl Galtney, 24 – were charged for the Aug. 13, 2011 break-in of a gun store and theft 21 handguns.
In a criminal complaint, five people drove a stolen vehicle into the front entrance of the store and broke a glass display case, stealing the weapons.
The suspects ditched the vehicle.
Evidence from the scene suggested that members of the Donna Street Crips were responsible for the break-in.
Seven of the handguns have since been recovered throughout the Las Vegas area during searches of homes, robberies and a homicide, the U.S. Attorney's office said.
Two of the men – Freeman and Galtney – were arrested Wednesday and scheduled to appear before a federal judge Thursday. The other two – Williams and Edwards – were already in state custody on unrelated charges.
If convicted, the men face up to 30 years in prison and up to $1 million in fines connected to the following charges:
- one count of conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States;
- one count of dealing in firearms without a license;
- one count of possession of a stolen firearm;
- and one count of theft from a federal firearms licensee.
