LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Police said a person on a motorized wheelchair entered a crosswalk on a red pedestrian signal when he was struck by a vehicle.
Las Vegas Metro police reported the auto-pedestrian collision on W. Charleston Boulevard near Community College Drive about 6:51 p.m. Tuesday.
According to officers, a 2007 Lexus-model vehicle was traveling east on Charleston as it was approaching Community College on a green light.
The 63-year-old operator of the motorized wheelchair was heading northbound on Community Center on a red pedestrian signal when he entered the intersection. The Lexus struck the man as a result.
The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver stayed on scene following the accident.
