LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
McCarran Airport is set to welcome on Thursday the first passengers of a new flight route that directly connects Las Vegas to Germany.
airberlin is launching a seasonal, twice-weekly service between Düsseldorf and Las Vegas.
Touted as the European country's second-largest carrier, airberlin will fly an Airbus A330 aircraft for the route on Thursdays and Sundays.
The seasonal service runs through Oct. 21.
An official with the airline is expected to join Las Vegas tourism administrators as part of a welcoming celebration for the new service.
The airline arriving from Düsseldorf is expected to be in Las Vegas at 4:15 p.m.
