LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Wednesday that he will lead a delegation of state business representatives in a trade mission to China and South Korea.
Sandoval, who made the announcement during a global business conference in Las Vegas, said the aim of the September trip is to extend Nevada's industries to foreign interests.
"The September Trade Mission to China and South Korea is expected to accelerate Nevada's economic development and diversification efforts by growing the market for our state's exports, while attracting investment in Nevada's promising target industries," the governor said. "The goal of the September Trade Mission to China and South Korea is to expand our state's global footprint while generating greater economic opportunities for all Nevadans. It is just one more step we are taking to create new business opportunities and change the way we do business."
Gov. Sandoval's office noted that about $8 billion of Nevada-made goods were sold overseas in 2011. About $1.3 billion of that money was sold to Asian customers.
Sandoval also pointed out more than 5 million foreign travelers, a significant number of which are Asian, visit southern Nevada.
No exact date was announced for the special trade mission.
