BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A civil lawsuit has been filed by four men who say they were injured outside Shady's Bar near LSU's campus.

A number of players were involved in an altercation Aug. 19 with Andrew Lowery and three other unidentified people.

The fight resulted in the suspensions and arrests of former quarterback Jordan Jefferson and junior linebacker Josh Johns.

They were both charged with second degree battery, which is a felony.

The East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's Office presented evidence to the grand jury over two days.

At the end of the second session, the panel decided there was not enough evidence to charge Johns with any crime, but there was enough to indict Jefferson on simple battery.

Simple battery is a misdemeanor.

Jefferson's legal process will continue May 10 with a hearing between Jefferson and a judge.

He pleaded innocent during his arraignment on Feb. 9.

The lawsuit filed Monday claims Jefferson and Johns caused injures to the men during the fight in August.

Shady's Bar is also named in the suit.

The men are seeking payment for medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering.
