LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said a would-be robber waited behind an electrical box before trying to rob a southwest end restaurant.

Detectives said the suspect put on a mask and wore a dark-colored hoodie in the attempted hold-up.

Employees were able to spot the armed bandit and locked the doors to the business, thwarting his plans.

Police said the suspect fled the area in a blue sport utility vehicle.

Police urge anyone who has seen the suspect or the suspect's vehicle to call Metro's Robbery Section at 702-828-3591 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
