LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson on Monday said officers involved in the deaths of two citizens in 2010 acted lawfully when confronted by "aggressive" suspects who "refused to follow" their commands.
The review comes as the controversial coroner's inquest process remains on hold following a temporary injunction issued last week by the Nevada Supreme Court.
The union representing Las Vegas Metro police officers is challenging the constitutionality of the inquest, which determines whether officers should be held responsible for citizen deaths.
Wolfson reviewed two cases: the shooting of Benjamin Bowman during a November 2010 robbery, and the death of Anthony Jones, who was stunned by a Taser while being taken into custody in December of the same year.
Police said Bowman was threatening to stab a bartender when he was shot by three officers at a PT's bar near Nellis Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. Bownman died at Sunrise Trauma Center.
Jones was resisting arrest when he was stunned by two officers with Taser's, according to police. He stopped breathing and was pronounced dead a short time later.
Both of Wolfson's decisions are posted on the district attorney's website.
