OW2, the global open source community for open source middleware and generic applications, announced today the publication of the first CompatibleOne white paper. Under the title CompatibleOne Open Source Cloud Broker Architecture Overview, the white paper outlines the four-step functional manifest-to-service provisioning cycle of the CompatibleOne broker, provides an overview of its logical model, introduces its core concepts and describes its communication architecture.
The white paper presents CompatibleOne's four-step functional manifest-to-service provisioning cycle:
a) The first step addresses users needs and their requirements that are expressed in what is called the Manifest.
b) In the second step, the Manifest is validated for accounting and billing and technical feasibility. The output of the second step is the Provisioning plan which contains information required to achieve the infrastructure described by the user or initiator within the Manifest.
c) The third step is the execution of the Provisioning plan by the core engine of the broker which then generates the Provisioning Control Graph.
d) In the fourth step, guided by the Provisioning Control Graph, the Broker
negotiates with different cloud service providers and engages the resources to be delivered to the user in the form of the Service.
