Fire investigators have released the cause of a large fire near McCarran International Airport.

A pallet fire burned Friday afternoon at 6770 Bermuda Road north of the 215. Smoke could be seen for several miles. There were no reports of injuries.

Investigators say the fire was caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette and was an accident.

The damage is estimated at $175,000.

Clark County Fire handled the blaze and said that pallets outside a one-story commercial building burned. The business is a plumbing supply warehouse.

Firefighters told FOX5 high winds made the fire difficult to battle but that they kept the blaze from spreading to inside the building, saving millions in inventory.

About 40 firefighters responded to the fire, which was knocked down at around 7:40 p.m.
