LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Marvel comics fans are getting an added bonus to go along with Friday's film debut of "The Avengers."

Renowned artist John Romita Jr. -- famous for his work on "Avengers," "Iron Man," and "Kick-Ass" – will attempt to break Guinness' "Longest Personal Signing and Drawing Appearance" record.

Romita set the current record at 48 hours back in 2002. He will go for 50 hours Friday starting at noon at the Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip.

Money raised during the signing event will benefit Heroes for Jordan and Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada.

The former was founded by Romita to benefit families of children diagnosed with cancer.
