Downtown Vegas collision kills 1, injures 2

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

One person is dead and two injured after a collision between a Dodge Intrepid and a Ford Econoline just after noon Thursday.

According to police, the Dodge was traveling west on Gass Avenue when it was struck on the left side by the Ford, which was traveling north on 4th street.

The driver and a passenger in the Dodge were taken to UMC Trauma where the driver was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford, identified as 20-year-old Jordan Jones of Las Vegas, suffered only minor injuries.

The accident forced Metro police to close the intersection of 3rd Street and Gass Avenue.

This is the 47th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction so far this year.
