O’Sheas sign removed, will be preserved for LINQ

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Demolition of the O'Sheas Casino began this week, but at least one piece of the 23-year-old property will be preserved for its next incarnation.

A sign removed from the side of the building on Wednesday morning will be reinstalled when a new version of O'Sheas opens in the LINQ entertainment and retail district.

The casino closed its doors on Monday and the parking garage was imploded the next morning.

Designs for the $550 LINQ project call for the remaining building to be merged with part of the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino. The Las Vegas Strip entrance to that property has also closed.

A majority of construction on the LINQ project is behind the Imperial Palace, between Audrie Street and Koval Lane.

LINQ is expected to open in 2013.
