CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Two assistant district attorneys for Mecklenburg County were assaulted Saturday evening in uptown Charlotte.
The incident was reported along the 700 block of West 6th Street inside Elmwood Cemetery, according to the report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
They were assaulted by an unknown person with a 2x4 piece of wood.
The man had sever lacerations to his head and had to be taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment, according to the report.
The woman sustained minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.
The attorney's work on misdemeanor crimes inside the District Attorney's Office.
"Unfortunately, two assistant district attorneys from this office were assaulted and robbed last Friday night here in Charlotte," said Mecklenburg County District Attorney Andrew Murray. "All of us here in the DA's Office are members of this community and feel the impact of crimes such as this one."
