LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

One woman is dead and another person is in critical condition after crossing the road not in a marked crosswalk.

The accident happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday near Craig Road and Las Vegas Boulevard.

Witnesses and evidence at the scene indicated a 2004 Nissan Xterra was traveling westbound on Craig Road in the right travel lane.

Both pedestrians were crossing Craig Road from the south side to the north side, not in a marked crosswalk.

As the pedestrians crossed the westbound travel lanes, they entered the right travel lane and were struck by the Nissan Xterra.

Both pedestrians were transported to University Medical Center-Trauma.

The 58-year-old female pedestrian was pronounced dead at UMC. The other pedestrian, August KunKel, 54, is in critical condition.

The driver of the Xterra, Regina Thomas, 38, was arrested for DUI and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Police said jaywalking is the cause of this accident.

This is the 45th traffic related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2012.
