A large donation from nonprofit organization Feed the Children and cosmetics company Avon will help feed more than 1,200 families in southern Nevada.
The Salvation Army of North Las Vegas will be distributing packages of food and hygiene items to families who pre-registered to receive them Wednesday.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the North Las Vegas Salvation Army site located at 2828 E. Cheyenne Avenue will give out those packages
The Salvation Army and Feed The Children partnered on this project for the first time in 2011. Organizers said it proved to be a great success.
Volunteers taking part in the distribution include members of the community and North Las Vegas police.
Although it is not clear how many more people might be served, those who were unable to pre-register may come to the site on Wednesday and will be served while supplies last.
