Traffic stop, suspicious package lead to bomb squad call

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police closed off an area near Owens Avenue and Ringe Lane, just east of Nellis Boulevard, after a suspicious package was found there.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, an officer made a routine traffic stop around 5:50 a.m. Wednesday and discovered the suspicious package in the vehicle.

Police said the Armor and Bomb Squad were called on the scene and people in the area were evacuated.

Ringe Lane was shut down between Monroe and Owens avenues as police investigate the situation.
