LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Home improvement magazine "This Old House" has named Las Vegas' Paradise Palms community to its 2012 list of "Best Old House Neighborhoods."

Paradise Palms' mid-century modern homes were constructed in the early 1960s east of the Boulevard Mall, with many houses located along the historic Las Vegas National Golf Course.

Debbie Reynolds, Dean Martin and Johnny Carson were among the celebrities that lived in the neighborhood.

Famed Las Vegas mobster Tony "The Ant" Spilotro also owned property in Paradise Palms, and one home was featured in the movie "Casino," which was partly based on Spilotro's life in Las Vegas.

In recent years, the neighborhood has attracted more young professionals and fans of mid-modern architecture looking to retain the "futuristic" look of the properties.

Residents meet monthly for "Paradise Palms Social Club" mixers and maintain a website that details the neighborhood's famous history.
