The College of Southern Nevada is holding its fifth annual MLK Diversity Awards Reception on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.
The event is part of the college's Black History Month celebration.
It's being held in the Morse Arberry Jr. Telecommunications Auditorium on the CSN Cheyenne campus in North Las Vegas.
Six $500 CSN Black History Month Scholarships will be awarded to students at the event.
Students who applied had to write essays describing how an African-American invention or contribution positively affected their lives.
Several community members will also receive MLK Diversity Awards for their roles in supporting the growth of African-Americans in areas of education, community and business.
