The USA Sevens Rugby tournament in Las Vegas set attendance records this year, including one for the largest crowd to see a live rugby match in the United States.
Organizers said 30,323 people were in attendance Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium, making it the largest American crowd to see live rugby.
Overall, 64,551 rugby fans visited the event over the three days it was held, which was the most ever for the three-year-old tournament.
"We brought USA Sevens to Las Vegas because there was a feeling this city was the perfect international backdrop for our diverse fan base," said A. Jon Prusmack, owner and CEO of USA Sevens LLC. "Ten years ago, when we took over operations of the tournament, we had a vision to grow rugby in the United States. This weekend's record-breaking attendance figures prove that vision has become a reality."
Rugby fans saw 45 rugby matches between 16 teams from around the world. The men's team representing Samoa won in the final against New Zealand, 29-16.
