Las Vegas ended 2011 on a positive note in terms of the number of visitors the city welcomed.
According to statistics released Thursday, Las Vegas saw a 4.3 percent jump in the total of visitors in 2011, compared to the total in 2010.
About 38.9 million tourists visited Las Vegas throughout 2011, compared to 37.3 million visitors in 2010.
In addition, December 2011 saw more than 70,000 more visitors than in the same month the year before. About 2.9 million people visited Las Vegas in the last month of 2011.
The 2011 year-to-date number was second to 2007's record number of 39.2 million visitors, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said.
The authority cited an uptick in the number of convention attendees and the number of meetings, trade shows and conventions in 2011.
McCarran International Airport saw a 4.3 percent jump in passenger traffic in 2011. About 41.5 million total passengers visited last year.

Clark County as a whole saw a 1.2 percent jump in gaming revenue from 2010 to 2011, the LVCVA also reported Thursday.
