LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The Nevada Department of Transportation is unveiling plans Wednesday on a construction program that affects a portion of Interstate 15 in the heart of Las Vegas.
The Project Neon calls for 13 lane miles of new bridges, a new HOV connector between U.S. 95 and I-15 and direct ramps at Wall Street, NDOT said. Construction is expected to span from the Spaghetti Bowl to Sahara Avenue.
Traffic improvements at Charleston Boulevard, Martin Luther King Boulevard and Grand Central Parkway are also expected.
NDOT indicated it will extend 3.7 miles and cost $1.5 billion. Work is expected to be complete in 20 years, NDOT projected.
A public hearing with proposed updates and an expected construction timeline is scheduled from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Springs Preserve at 333 S. Valley View Boulevard.
