It's a subject many students struggle with, but one local elementary is excelling.

C.T. Sewell Elementary School has been named "Rising Star of the Year" by the MIND Research Institute. The school was honored for its use of the ST Math program to help improve students' CRT scores in mathematics.

JiJi, a penguin that conveys lessons in the software, recognized students "in person" for achieving a new level of skill in the program.

C.T. Sewell is just one local elementary in the pilot program to be recognized for making strides in math.
