Police said Barber was seen jaywalking in the area. The officers tried stopping Barber before he ran into a motel lobby.

The officers tried to get Barber to stop and identify himself before he pulled out a knife and threatened them, police said.

The officers opened fire on the suspect. Barber was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Police later revealed Barber was wanted for a felony charge at the time of the shooting.

Both Williams, 34, and Doty, 26, have been with Las Vegas Metro police since 2008.

The officers were placed on paid administrative leave as police investigate the shooting.
