LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Houston Rockets guard Kyle Lowry entered a no contest plea in a Las Vegas court room Thursday in connection to an incident in which he hurled a basketball at a female referee.

An official with the Clark County Courts said Lowry, 25, would have his charges dismissed if he completes 100 hours of community service, enroll in impulse control counseling and stay out of trouble for six months.

Lowry, who was not present in court Thursday, was charged with a count of misdemeanor battery, accused of throwing a basketball at referee Infini Robinson during a Sept. 22 game at the All American Sports facility on Sunset Road near Las Vegas Boulevard.

Robinson alleges Lowry, upset with calls she made during the game, hurled a basketball at her twice, striking her, and made verbal threats. According to a police report, Robinson said Lowry became upset with her calls.

Several NBA players were taking part in the game as their union worked toward a labor agreement that would eventually delay the start of the 2011-12 season.

Robinson said Lowry later apologized, telling her, "I'm sorry. I truly apologize for what I did. I let my emotions get the best of me."

Lowry is due back in court for a status check on Jul. 19.
