LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Authorities released Thursday the name of a slain man who was believed to have been killed by another man later shot by police.
The Clark County Coroner's office said Rodolfo Velasco-Bayardo, 50, was the person found dead in a home in the 4600 block of Stacey Avenue late Tuesday afternoon
The coroner said the Las Vegas resident died from multiple sharp force injuries due to assault.
Police believe his slaying was at the hands of a man whom officers encountered hours later, two miles away from Velasco-Bayardo's death.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, members of a Criminal Apprehension Team were patrolling the area of Washington Avenue and Michael Way around 2 a.m. Wednesday when they found the suspect riding in a vehicle.

When officers stopped the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot through a nearby alley and officers pursued the suspect by foot and by police vehicle.
A patrol vehicle struck the suspect causing him to fall to the ground. Police said when officers approached the man, the suspect opened gunfire, striking a Metro officer.
Three officers returned fire, killing the suspect. The officer hurt in the shootout was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities have yet to release the suspect's name.
