LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A bicyclist was killed after being, first, struck by a car and then by a sport-utility vehicle, police said.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, the accident happened in the intersection of Fort Apache and Flamingo roads at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday.

The bicyclist was traveling southbound in the east crosswalk of Fort Apache when he veered slightly right into the path of a northbound Toyota Scion, police said.

The Scion hit the back wheel of the bicycle, causing the bicyclist to travel in the path of an SUV in the adjacent lane.

Police said the SUV's driver could not stop in time to avoid hitting the bicyclist.

Officers said the 18-year-old man riding the BMX bicycle died as a result of the collision.

The victim's name was not immediately released.

An investigation continues into what lead to the collision.
