In honor of National Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day, United Way of Southern Nevada is hosting a kickoff celebration for its "Earn It Keep It Save It" complimentary tax preparation service on Friday.
Patrons whose household income was less than $50,000 in 2011 are eligible to have their tax returns filed at no charge by IRS-certified volunteers.
Tax preparers are specially-trained to identify credits available in order to maximize federal refunds, putting money back in the pockets of Southern Nevadans.
Interested individuals will be able to receive tax services during the event.
United Way's "Earn It Keep It Save It" free tax service is available now through Tuesday, April, 17 at the Doc Pearson Community Center located at 1625 West Carey in North Las Vegas.
The event will be hosted by United Way of Southern Nevada's President and CEO Cass Palmer and features speakers Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Nevada State Senator, Majority Leader, Steven Horsford.
