Obama talks alternative energy in Vegas speech

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

President Barack Obama used a Las Vegas UPS facility as a backdrop to deliver a speech on alternative energy and his economic policy on Thursday.

Arriving to the stage just after 10 a.m., the president offered some words of praise to the shipping company, which launched a fleet of liquefied natural gas-powered vehicles funded by federal stimulus dollars.

"We've got to help local governments upgrade their fleets, too. If more of these brown trucks are going green, more city buses should too," President Obama told the crowd.

His speech, which lasted about 30 minutes, touched on several points made during Tuesday's State of the Union address.

While the president pushed for America to be the leader in natural gas production, he returned to familiar themes extending the payroll tax cut and asking the wealthy to pay their fair share.

He'll also took aim at Republican presidential candidates accusing him of inciting class warfare.

"I think asking a billionaire to pay at least as much as his secretary in taxes is just common sense. Warren Buffett's doing fine. I'm doing fine. We don't need more tax breaks," he said.
