Woman hospitalized after fire at west Vegas home

A woman was treated at the hospital after trying to escape a fire at her west Las Vegas home.

The fire was reported in the 1600 block of Barrel Cactus Court, near Vegas Drive and Jones Boulevard, at around 2:46 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, crews arrived to find the woman trying to escape through a rear sliding glass door.

Firefighters were able to help her evacuate and treated her at the scene before transporting her to a hospital for smoke inhalation

The fire inside the one-story home had gutted her bedroom. Officials believe the fire sparked on the woman's bed but smoking did not appear to be the cause.

Officials believe the fire was accidental.

Damage was estimated at $25,000.
