LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Copa Airlines will offer non-stop flights between Las Vegas and Panama starting June 27, the airline announced Wednesday.

According to Copa, Las Vegas will be the company's  seventh destination in the U.S.

"We are very pleased to launch the only non-stop service to Las Vegas, a major tourism, convention and entertainment center, and the first direct service between Las Vegas and Central and South America," said Joseph Mohan, Commercial and Planning VP of Copa Airlines.

The New York Times ranked Panama number one on its list of the 45 places to visit in 2012.

Mohan says the new flight will also offer the fastest and most direct way to fly between Las Vegas and several Latin American countries like Columbia, Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina, Peru and more.

The six and a half hour flight will depart McCarran International Airport's new Terminal 3 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at about 5:30 a.m.

Travelers will then arrive at Copa's Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City around 2:30 p.m.

"Our new partnership with Copa Airlines creates a travel gateway connecting Las Vegas to more than 30 Latin American cities," said Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Travelers can earn rewards through the OnePass and MileagePlus frequent-flyer programs shared with alliance partner United-Continental.

Passengers can buy tickets at www.copaair.com in U.S. dollars and 10 other currency forms.
