The Las Vegas Motor Speedway announced Friday that the NASCAR truck series race scheduled for Oct. 14 has been moved to Sept. 29.
According to Speedway officials, NASCAR decided to move the race two weeks earlier than the scheduled date to avoid it being run head-to-head with the Saturday-night Sprint Cup race scheduled that night in Charlotte, N.C. on Oct. 14.
In addition, the IndyCar event cancellation for that day made way for the rescheduling, LVMS said. The NASCAR Camping World Truck race will now be run at night, officials said.
"The date switch allows us to run the event under the lights, and that allows more people to attend the race," Speedway president Chris Powell said.
"Moving the date back will provide fans with a better opportunity to attend the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway," said Steve O'Donnell, NASCAR's senior vice president of racing operations.
An exact start time has yet to be determined despite the firm scheduling to a evening run.
