Nevada's Treasurer's Office will take applications beginning Thursday for families to lock future college tuition rates at current prices.
The Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program allows families to lock in those prices.
The open enrollment period runs through Feb. 28, 2012.
The state treasurer's office said more than 14,000 prepaid tuition contracts have been purchased by Nevadans since its inception in 2010.
"The program is especially affordable if parents begin an account for newborn children, with plans starting as low as $36 a month," state treasurer Kate Marshall explained. "The earlier you open an account, the lower the overall cost."
