LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

More restaurants are taking a cue from retailers and keeping their doors open on Thanksgiving.

And why not? Hungry shoppers have to eat.

According to the National Restaurant Association, 14 million Americans will eat Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant, while another 16 million will opt for takeout instead of a home-cooked meal.

Another 32 million will dine out while shopping on Black Friday, when many stores hold 24-hour marathon sales in hopes of boosting their bottom lines.

Convenience is the primary reason for skipping a traditional meal at home, according to the NRA.

Dining out doesn't mean turkeys will be spared during the holiday season. An estimated 46 million turkeys will be eaten this Thanksgiving, according to the National Turkey Federation.
